Burying the Crime, Circa 1922 - A murder victim is unearthed by police from his grave. Murderers often plan the disposal of the body well in advance, especially if the victim is a family member or the perpetrator a serial killer. Modern forensic science often identifies a suspect from soil samples found at the grave site and matches it to material left on shoes, clothes, shovels, or other burial implements.
